Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Friday on a positive trend, fluctuated throughout the day, and closed at 7,913.76, down 0.82%. The Industrial Index and Banking Index lost 0.61% & 1.44%, respectively. For the week the BIST100 declined 1.40% and the Industrial Index lost 2.26%, while the Banking Index diverged positively, down 0.02%. Industrial stocks are declining due to inflation accounting and expectations that rising interest rates will negatively affect industrial companies. Yet we find it normal and healthy to see profit realization in the banking index, which has risen by more than 25% over the past four weeks due to the transition to rational policies and the decline in CDS. We expect sharp withdrawals from banks to present buying opportunities. As deposit interest rates approach 45% across the BIST, interest in the bourse will likely remain limited given the rising appeal of alternative income instruments and to higher stock loan interest rates. In global markets last week, European and U.S. Stock Markets followed a positive trend on expectations that the end of interest rate hikes was approaching. In contrast, Asian Stock Markets ended the week with sales on weak regional data. This morning, German DAX futures are positive, while the U.S. futures and Asian Stock Markets are on the decline. We await CPI data in the USA on Tuesday this week, the Fed's interest rate decisions on Wednesday, and the ECB and BoE on Thursday to guide the markets. On the domestic macroeconomic data agenda, Industrial Production and Balance of Payments data for October emerges today. The market expectation is for Industrial Production to rise by 2% YoY in October and the Current Account Balance to print a surplus of USD 800mn. We estimate a 2.4% YoY rise in Industrial Production and a surplus of USD 750mn in the Current Account Balance. The VIOP-30 Index ended the Friday evening session up 0.17%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Monday positively, with the uptrend maintained amid a fluctuating course where rises invite profit-taking. SUPPORT: 7,860 - 7,800 RESISTANCE: 7,992 - 8,062.
