Market Watch(Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Tuesday on a positive trend, fluctuated throughout the day amid sales after seeing 5,019 at the opening. The Index closed at 4,906.63, down 1.38%. The Banking Index diverged negatively, down 2.23%, while the Industrial Index diverged positively, down 0.94%. In addition to election uncertainty, the global rise in banking sector risk has prompted further selling. We expect the fluctuating course to continue until the elections of 14 May, despite any short term reactionary purchases in the market. In major global stock markets efforts are being made to alleviate fallout from the bankruptcy of US bank SVB. This evening, global markets will closely follow the Fed's interest rate decision and President Powell's subsequent statements. Expectations are for the Fed to raise interest rates by 25 bps. And amid expectations that the Fed will adopt a more dovish stance at this meeting the US Stock Markets ended the day up 1.58%, while European Stock Markets rose 1.79%. This morning, the positive picture continues for U.S. futures, German DAX futures and Asian Stock Markets. With the VIX having regressed to 21, volatility in the US Stock Markets has decreased. Meanwhile, an ounce of gold hovers at around 1,940 this morning, indicating that the search for a safe haven has waned. Volatility may be high before and after tonight's Fed meeting. We expect the resulting decision to shape medium-term risk appetite. Domestically the VIOP-30 Index closed the evening session up 0.27%. Today we expect the Benchmark Index to start rather positively, but with continued fluctuation and a weak intraday course to follow. SUPPORT: 4,860 - 4,770 RESISTANCE: 4,980 - 5,055.
