" The BIST100 managed to end the week on a positive note, closing 0.23% higher at 8666, and turnover of TRY 117bn, despite rumours of the CBRT Governor, Gaye Erkan's expected resignation from her post, which she posted on her X account, not so soon after the market closed for the weekend.
" The Aviation stocks rose above their peers, closing 2.21% higher, and the Conglomerates and Energy stocks followed suit, while the Banks diverged considerably negative from their peers.
" SAHOL-THYAO and AKSEN led the gains among the BIST30 stocks, whereas EKGYO faced profit-takings after its recent surge, and anchored the benchmark, followed by SASA and AKBNK.
" For the week, the BIST100 and the BIST30 closed 3.83% and 3.14% higher, with the Transportation stocks rising by 7.37%, and followed by the Conglomerates, thanks to KCHOL and then SAHOL, and the Energy stocks also manged to outperform the benchmark, while the Banks suffered a slight loss of 0.09%, and the Mining stocks were relatively quiet for the week.
" As for the BIST30 stocks, SAHOL recorded a surge of 12.50%, followed by ALARK: +12.27% and THYAO: +11.60; there were only 2 blue chip stocks that closed the week negatively; AKBNK fell by 2.68% for week, and was followed by SASA: -1.10%, while KONTR recorded a meagre rise just less than 1%.,
" The TRY weakened against the greenback by 0.72%, but to a lesser degree of around 0.10% against the Euro, while on the Bonds' side, the 2yr rates fell by 0.19%, compared to the 0.29% rise in the 10yr yields.
" Due to slowdown in global demand and coupled with talks of a possible cease-fire in the Middle East, Brent closed the week nearly 7% down, whereas Ounce GOLD fell by a little over 1%, due to both the hawkish rhetoric from Jerome Powell post-FOMC decision, and Friday's high NFP figures.
" As of print, the TRY is trading slightly stronger against both the USD and the Euro, at 30.52 and 32.90, respectively, while the DXY has risen above the 104 level to 104.06.
" On the Commodity front, Brent is trading slightly higher compared to Friday's closing figures at $77.70, and Ounce GOLD is trading lower at $2030, falling considerably on Friday after the much higher-than-expected US NFP figures, as well as Powell's interview over the weeken.
" Speaking at a US televised interview, Fed Chair Jerome Powell stated that the central bank will proceed carefully with interest cuts this, thus hinting that a March FOMC rate cut is unlikely.
" On Friday, CBRT Head Hafize Gaye Erkan resigned from her post, and was swiftly replaced by the Deputy Governor, and Ex-NY Fed Economist, Fatih Karahan, as the new CBRT head.
" According to global reports over the weekend on the appointment of the new CBRT head, is expected to be more hawkish regarding the fight against inflation, thus more rate increases would be expected.
AGENDA:
" The local agenda will kick-off this week with the CPI figures (BBGe: 6.40% m/m; 64.65% y/y) and followed by the REER; Cash Budget Balance, CBRT Turkey Inflation Report and Presentation, Weekly Net Change in Foreign STOCK/BOND Holdings, and ending with the Industrial Production figures.
" On the international side, the US will be disclosing the PMI figures, Weekly Jobless Claims, while the Eurozone will be releasing the PMI figures and PPI figures, while Germany will release its Inflation and Industrial Production and Factory Orders' figures.

CORPORATE:
" REEDR: Disclosed during the session on Friday, that its 80% local subsidiary will start producing domestic electric-powered vehicle at its Samsun plant, and plans test drives starting on 30th August, 2024.
