Market Watch(Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Friday on a negative trend and followed a fluctuating intraday course, closing at 4,812.93, down 1.70%. The Industrial & Banking Indices ended the day down 1.80% and 1.17%, respectively. On a weekly basis, the BIST100 lost 4.35% carrying its downward move to the third week. While the Banking Index also shed 4.35% the Industrial Index lost 4.81%. Reactionary purchases at the BIST following the earthquake, with the measures and incentives taken thereafter, continue to present a selling opportunity. Selling pressure is also rising on election uncertainty and the expectation that orthodox policies may be adopted post elections. To those may be added the rise in deposit rates, including KKM. Any reactionary buying until the election date will turn to profit-taking, sustaining the volatility. In addition, we think that future news flows on banking sector risk in global markets will increase volatility further. Global risk appetite is recovering with the weakening, for now, of concerns over the banking sector and the expectation that the central banks' interest rate hikes are nearing the end. Major stock markets ended the week with 3%-4% gains. U.S. futures were mixed this morning, while German DAX futures were bearish. Asian Stock Markets are positive. The VIX has regressed to 18, indicating that selling pressure in the U.S. Stock Markets has eased. This week, the U.S. non-farm employment data will be followed on Friday. On the domestic side, February CPI figures emerge today. At the weekend, while S&P confirmed Turkey’s credit rating, we expect it to have a limited impact on the market as its outlook changed from stable to negative. The VIOP-30 Index closed the Friday evening session up 0.02%. Today the Benchmark Index is expected to start the day negatively with the effect of dividend payments (dividend effect ~ -20 points). And although selling pressure may continue during the day, the decline will merely offer a buying opportunity. SUPPORT: 4,752 - 4,700 RESISTANCE: 4,890 - 4,934.
