TFG Istanbul Morning Report (TFG Istanbul Menkul Değerler )

• Global markets were generally up yesterday thanks to Fed Chair Powell’s non-hawkish speech on Wednesday as well as Yesterday’s tamed core PCE. The BIST also moved up 1.38% surpassing the 5k resistance, closing at 5046.19 with a turnover of TRY 117bn, led by the gains in the Aviation and REITs with the Mining shares closing limit-up due to the rising GOLD prices. The Banks closed slightly below par, and the Conglomerates were pulled down due to the profit-taking on DOHOL, whereas the Industrials managed to beat the benchmark.
• KOZAL and KOZAA took the gold and bronze at the BIST30, whereas ISCTR was the best 3rd performing stock. BIMAS was the most sold, and was followed by TOASO and YKBNK shares.
• Today, we expect a range-bound trading session, ahead of today’s NFP figures from the US.
• As of 18:10 session close, the TRY remains to trade as flat as a ruler at 18.64, and both the 2yr and 10yr TRY bond yields fell by 9bps to 10.62% and 10.75%, respectively. The 5yr CDS rates are now trading just 12 pts above the 500 level, after dropping another 14.5pts from the previous day.
• Due to heightened expectations of the OPEC+ members either leaving production levels as it is, if not boldly cutting it, Brent had risen to near the USD 88 level, but has since subsided to USD 87.00, and both ounce and gram GOLD prices are trading higher at USD 1798 and TRY 1077, respectively.
NEWS FLOW:
• Turkey’s PMI figure fell to 45.7 from the previous 46.4
• Last week, Foreigners were net BUYERS of USD 24mn STOCKS and net BUYERS of USD 3mn BONDS
• IZDMC: Disclosed it has applied for the IPO of its 85% energy subsidiary Izdemir Energy
AGENDA:
• There are no major local macro releases expected today, but the CBRT Governor, Mr. Kavcioglu will be holding a presentation today, whereas on the international front, change in NFP (Cons. 200k) and employment figures will be carefully monitored, as well as ECB President, Christine Lagarde’s speech.
